Kick starter puts microbrews on your kitchen counter

Post by cabinish »

Instant beer? Nearly $2 Million has been pledged on a $350,000 goal for this brewing machine -

The new Pico Model C is a smart craft beer brewing appliance that allows anyone to brew 5L kegs of professional quality craft beer using ingredient-and-recipe PicoPaks from great craft breweries around the world. Pico C builds on the technology created for its big brother, the award-winning Pico Model S but is even easier to use and more affordable. In fact, Pico C is the easiest way to brew fresh craft beer from breweries around the world or custom craft your own brew innovations.

Mr. Beer for the credulous technologist with more money than sense or desire to grow and expand their mind. Selling the sizzle, not the steak. This is a triumph of marketing over common sense. Ask any accomplished homebrewer to dig into all the problems here.

My suggestion? Plop down $1.99 for a used paperback edition copy of this:

And then track down a local or mail-order homebrew supply shop you'd like to work with.

Keep in mind that this is a lie when it comes to artisinal brewing:

The whole prospect strikes me about as worthless and deplorable as Koenig cup coffee, microwavable TV dinners, and Wonder Bread. e.g.: they're not trying to help you, they're trying to create a BS market out of thin air at the expense of actual thought, knowledge, ability, and skill. Why do people place their faith in all the wrong places?
