Like I've been saying, there is a right way to do this with Legislation.
Net Neutrality without turning over Title II authority to the FCC.

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/201 ... eutrality/

" But ISPs and Republicans in Congress oppose reclassification and are willing to accept net neutrality rules in exchange for taking Title II off the table.

Sen. John Thune (R-SD), chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, said that his legislation will enforce these 11 "bipartisan rules in the Internet Age":

Prohibit blocking
Prohibit throttling
Prohibit paid prioritization
Require transparency
Apply rules to both wireline and wireless
Allow for reasonable network management
Allow for specialized services
Protect consumer choice
Classify broadband Internet access as an information service under the Communications Act
Clarify that Section 706 of the Telecommunications Act may not be used as a grant of regulatory authority
Direct the FCC to enforce and abide by these principles

Wrong again. The internet is not a human right. The infrastructure required costs billions of dollars to develop and companies will not make these long term investments when they are heavily regulated by the government.

Even poor people need to pay for this service. They also need to pay for gas to drive a car, or electricity.

These investors also require that they make money on their investments.
They are not in business to lose money.
They can not give away this service for free. It IS NOT a right.
With regulation like this at the beginning of the internet- we would all be using 24Kbps modems still today- and surfing the net with Netscape, and using Lotus 123 and WordPerfect 5.1!!

The evidence is in- these heavy handed regulations are providing the market with a dis-incentive to invest in internet infrastructure.
In just the last 2 years since net neutrality laws have been in place- total investment in the internet infrastructure is down by 5.60%. These are the only 2 years since the internet came online that investment has actually gone down.

This represents several billions of dollars in investment that did not happen. Small internet ISP companies have complained that with these new laws- they can not get the financing they need to expand and grow.

Network infrastructure fell...
$1.9 billion at AT&T
$1.2 billion at Verizon
$1.5 billion at Sprint
$130 million at CenturyLink
All these numbers fell in the second quarter of 2016, according to data released Thursday.

If you are not informed about this issue- listen to FCC chair Ajit Pai explain why he wants to repeal net neutrality...

Also... Here is a good news story about how economic investment in internet infrastructure and development is being cut short because of these regulations. It's about time to get rid of this Obama era crap!

Today is the day!! Thank You President Trump!!

Oh I know. I used AOL messenger for many many years.
It was a good service- but their numbers have been shrinking for years.
It's going the way of WordPerfect and Lotus...
And Netscape and 56kbs modems..

We all switched to texting.

We will survive.
