About the Artist....
"My paintings are impressions of nature, not simply a replication of what is there.
I focus on vibrant, imaginative color and strong design. Each work starts with small
sketches, using large areas of color that are the building blocks of the composition.
Once a design is finalized, a line drawing in charcoal becomes the first step on the
new board. A transparent layer of orange provides the backdrop--a middle value
that peeks through the top layers and gives warmth to the finished painting. I call
the works “paintings” to emphasize that they are created from shapes, not lines,
as a drawing would be."
