The explosion, which happened about 11:40 a.m. on Moss Rock Road, in the Genesee Park area, sparked a fire at the home, said Mark Techmeyer, a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
The incident happened when a man in the home tried to light a pilot on a furnace or hot water heater, Techmeyer said. The man who received burns, was taken to a local hospital, and firefighters responded to the home and have put out a fire.
